Lorraine Williams was born in New York City and began making art at an early age. She attended the High School of Art & Design, and received her BFA from the School of Visual Arts. She worked as an art director, children’s book illustrator and graphic designer before turning her attention full-time to painting. Her rich, luminous abstractions have been described as amodernist, belonging to neither modern nor post-modern traditions. She lives in Brooklyn, NY.
